In a nutshell the 5 BIGGEST Mistakes are:

1. They FORGET to creatively Dream

2. They GET LOCKED INTO the Minutia of Daily Living

3. They IGNORE THEIR INNER ADVISOR 

4. They MISS REPEATING PATTERNS

5. They Simply DON’T GET ENOUGH SLEEP

So lets look deeper at those 5 Top Mistakes and their Solutions …

1. THEY FORGET TO DREAM (CREATIVE VISUALIZATION /DIGITAL DREAMBOARDS or NIGHT DREAMS)

This is one I personally have been guilty of in the past.  I have gotten caught up in the DOING part of Life that I put DREAMING (Creative Visualization) on the back burner and my creativity tended to suffer. What is visualization about anyway?  Why is it so important?  Water for priming the pump for one!  Use it or lose it!   Over the last few months I sat down and actually re-created my DREAM BOARD and updated it.  And voila – once again things are “manifesting” with a lot less WORK.  Even Oprah recommends digitial dreamboards I heard it said years ago that one of the reasons Japan zoomed ahead in world markets is that they spend the majority of the time planning their projects.  ie 3/4 of time planning-1/4 which results in a lot less mistakes, recalls etc. , whereas we, here in the States, spend 3/4 time doing, 1/4 time planning and have a LOT more problems as a result of not thinking things through and leaping before we look.  While there IS value in the READY-FIRE-AIM approach to get something into motion quickly.  The READY-AIM-FIRE may just be more time and money cost effective.  Using your dreams in your business is an extremely underused tool however, there is a way to rectify this.  Rev up your mindpower. Eliminate energy and creativity zappers. So get out those VISION BOARDS  and start dreaming again.   

2. THEY GET LOCKED IN THE MINUTIA OF DAILY LIVING or ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKE MR OR MS A DULL BOY OR GIRL.

This ties into the above in that FATIGUE sets in and drags us down.  (Raise your hand if you have ever fallen asleep at your computer with your fingers still on the keyboard). Business owners, workers, teens and virtually all arenas of society are simply exhausted.   You could travel to exotic locations or an easy solution – schedule play.  Yep! Put it on your calendar and commit to it!  This, believe it or not, is a challenge for those of us who tend to fall into the work-a-holic mind-set.  Now that I have a grandaughter who just turned 1,  the reminder of the value of play and creativity is constantly in my life and the result of actually making play a part of my day has given me additional energy to utilize in my own business.  So actually schedule in Guilt-Free PLAY and DREAMING on your calendars.  Oh and did I mention ADDITIONAL JOY & ENERGY!  Oh and thens there’s more ENERGY and FUN!  Love what you do and do what you love.  Is Energy, Joy and Fun ok with you?  NAW?  Just Kidding!  YOU BETCHA!!!  Who do you know that has TOOO MUCH FUN and RELAXATION in their lives.  Want a little more….put OCTOBER 15TH on your calendar if you are anywhere near Des Moines, IA and …read on!

3. THEY IGNORE THEIR INNER ADVISOR - NO DREAM LOG

Did you know you have an INNER ADVISOR?  He/she is communicating with you all the time – its YOU and the vehicle used is  called YOUR DREAMS.  Yes, I am talking about those nightly sojourns.  So many times, especially entrepreneurs ignore, overlook, dismiss those nightly messages their inner advisor is transmitting that are provids invaluable insight into your thought processes, your emotions and yes, even your business decisions.  What happens so often though is your know your Inner Advisor  is sending you a message however, the language is foreign to you so you blow it off, forget it or poo-poo it.   Well, guess what, you are right …it IS like a foreign language that can, however, be easily understood with the right “handbook.. ” Thats why learning to understand dream symbols, the language of mind is so important.  It builds your inner creativity and mind power (not to be confused with brain power which is also honed)   Tune in on Oct 3 for a free and open TELESEMINAR on this very topic.  Start now by keeping a dream decoder/journal notebook by your bed.   A steno pad will do,  however, I created a more complete Decoder for myself that I used throughout the years that I am now sharing with others that kept requesting I make them one. 

4. THEY MISS PATTERNS  – REPEATING/RE-OCCURING DREAMS

Have you ever had a dream that repeated itself?  Or happened several nights in a row?  Or every couple of years?  More so the importance of keeping a Dream Decoder Journal where you can log your life experiences as well as track an explanation of dreams themselves.  Ignoring these patterns is a loss of valuable information that your Inner Advisor is valiantly attempting to provide for you.  You may be wasting your time and energy attempting to re-invent the wheel when the answers you seek are are at your fingertips.  Repeating/Reoccuring Dreams are theInner Advisor’s way of letting you know that life is presenting you with a set of circumstances and situations that you may have missed previously BUT  now have the opportunity to take advantage again to move forward and “get on track” again; to build an understanding or awareness that will move you forward on your Growth path again.  The downside is if you keep ignoring the opportunities represented by your repeating or recurring dreams then your Inner Advisor gets rather agressive in the messages and you run the risk of nightmares. 

Nightmares are your Inner Self’s way of saying “Ok, I tried to be a nice guy…you haven’t apprently been  listening…PAY ATTENTION!!!!- YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THIS NOW!!!!“  Nightmares tend to be remembered!

So take the simpler, more pleasant route.  There is nothing that stimulates creativity more than constantly learning, growing and stretching your mind.     

5.  THEY DON’T GET ENOUGH SLEEP=NO DREAMS=DULL MINDS“To sleep perchance to dream” – Hamlet/Willliam Shakespeare 

 In our current economy, life and world, sleep is often something that eludes us.  We tend to drive ourselves mercilessly, constantly be in a state of over-stimulation from electro-magnetic fields from all the electronic devices we surround ourselves with, noise pollution,  eye-strain from staring at computer screens,  traffic, erractic eating habits -the list goes on- resulting in overwhelm, worry, guilt and a host of other unproductive thoughts and actions.  Sleep apnea is often a culpret as well.  Sleep time is short.  Job and family are demanding.  WE lose ourselves in the shuffle.  The majority individuals with jobs have to wake up to an alarm which JOLTS you into consciousness at 5 to 7 am  just when you should be staying in your deepest and most rejuvenating sleep.  (9-10 PM is actually more optimal for health just as retiring around 9-10 pm).  Entrepreneurs are a little more flexible with themselves however have their own set of drivers which make it challenging to “shut it off” and relax. 

When sleep is short and jumping into life immediately when your eyes open your dreams tend to be lost and your creativity often suffers.  Short nights leave little time for night dreaming and boomerang in your waking life by making “thinking” and “being creative” difficult. Memory improves also with sleep. There is a tendency to simply put oneself on automatic and “zone” through the day.  I know…been there…done that….constantly remind MYSELF to Breathe and Relax.  This IS the key!  Mastering your BREATH is one of the simplest ways (notice I didn’t say EASY) to jump start your creative mind during the day and RELAX at bedtime. 

It is my opinion that entrepreneurs, especially entrepreneurs in Iowa (because I happen to be one and live here myself) more than any other category of people, need to stay in tip top creative shape.
